Far from a handicap insurmountable lead, the Canary Islands is an example of the possibilities offered by the fragmented territory in terms of cultural and human wealth. The group of islands was, because they are insular, a divided territory that failed to form a network linked until the media and transportation have facilitated mobility between islands. It is essential that this wealth that comes from our diversity, self-fed daily with the exchange of artists, with the mass dissemination of all types of activities being undertaken in the various islands, with increased travel opportunities for discover these artistic events in places other than our own island. Mobility between Islands will make us stronger, providing a large mesh increasingly dense and only in the smooth flow of ideas and knowledge.

The Festival

CIUC festival will bring together Canarian musicians of different styles and djs, exhibitions, live graffiti and skate-board displays in addition to a major exhibition that will link photographers, illustrators, graphic designers, graffiti, paintings trend of urban, stencil, toys, video, the latest in design and customizing all kinds of items such as shoes, caps, shirts, skate boards, bodyboards or furniture and skate-board exhibitions.

The nucleus is a huge show of different forms of expression and artists from the 7 islands. In the same area may attend sessions live dj graffiteros and concerts as well as emerging groups of musicians canaries. Canary Island Urban Culture will be held in urban areas with significant exposure as a major hub. Within the large exhibition that will be created with different sampling techniques such as painting, sculpture, photography, video, art prints, audiovisual installation, electronic art or any other tool of expression of the best emerging artists of the moment in the Canary Islands.

The exhibition of photography will bow to the side of urban art, presenting a series of snapshots in which you can see skaters, surfers, graffers, musicians ... a graphic show that surrounds the urban art´s world and demonstrate that it is less marginal and often with more artistic and intellectual than most think.

Concerts will be a key part of this show since the weekend will be completed with djs samples sessions and skate board tracks builded for the skaters to go there and enjoy sport. But in addition, both the opening and the closing will be two concerts to be attended by Canarian groups.

Organisator

Since Graciasaella took several years to promote the exchange and discovering that our creators have their own keys, their distinctive characteristics from the gene that gives the islands. The island, therefore, can be seen as creating a large pot of ideas in which each element has its own personality, but that gives a unique flavor mixed and recognizable. These features are also visible in what has been called Urban Culture: a compendium of artistic, musical and sporting events that brings together people around it with two key features above all: youth and originality.
